RTI International (www.rti.org) is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the human condition through multidisciplinary technical assistance, training and research services that meet the highest standards. RTI is recruiting for qualified development professionals to serve as Chief of Party, for forthcoming USAID basic education programs in East Africa (Tanzania).
POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief of Party will: *Be responsible for overall technical and managerial direction of the program; *Provide technical leadership and quality assurance in the design, delivery and evaluation of all technical assistance and capacity building activities; *Provide direct managerial oversight to all consultants and staff working on this project; * Provide technical assistance and support to project staff, counterparts and clients

| Qualifications of the Candidate |
|
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate expertise and field-based experience on large scale USAID education projects in some of the following areas: * Senior level USAID project management; * Education management and planning; * Community participation in education, advocacy and mobilization; * In-service teacher professional development; * Monitoring and evaluation
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Minimum 10 years of relevant experience—5 years overseas—preferably in the sub-Saharan Africa region; * Advanced degree in Education, Public Administration or related field and equivalent experience; * Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage and motivate international and local staff and teams; * Demonstrated knowledge of USAID project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements; * Fluency in English required.
